Simply flip the master switch to the "ON" position and the energy efficient melter will begin to heat up to its standby mode of 25% heat. Once you load your food to any one of the four adjustable rack positions, the micro switch boosts the quartz heaters to 100% for even cooking. Both the right and left heaters each have an "ON" switch with an indicator light in addition to the red overall indicator light for quick identification.
